Google Launches Search Profiles: A New Way for Creators and Publishers to Own Their Presence

Google has introduced Search profiles, a claimable home base that brings a creator’s articles, videos, and social posts together in one place on Google Search and Discover.

On June 4, 2026, Google announced Search profiles, a new feature that lets publishers and creators shape how they appear on Google Search. Think of it as a verified, shareable hub: a single space that pulls together your latest content from across platforms and helps your audience follow you wherever they discover you.

Instead of leaving your online identity scattered across YouTube, Instagram, X, and your own website, a Search profile gives Google — and your audience — one accurate, up-to-date source of truth.

What a Search profile actually does

A Search profile is a dedicated space where you can showcase your most recent articles, videos, and social posts. People can follow you directly from the profile, which makes them more likely to see your content surface in Google Discover, the personalized feed on the home screen of the Google app.

Your profile can be reached three ways:

  • Through your knowledge panel — the information box that appears on Search for notable people, brands, and organizations.
  • By tapping your name on Google Discover.
  • Via a direct URL you can share anywhere.

Claiming a profile can even trigger the creation of a knowledge panel for eligible creators. If you already have one, it gets enhanced with your updated avatar, latest content, and a direct link to your profile.

Who can claim one

At launch, Search profiles are open to publishers and creators with a sizable following on at least one major social or video platform. The current thresholds are:

YouTube100,000 subscribers
Instagram100,000 followers
X (Twitter)100,000 followers
TikTok300,000 followers

You also need to be at least 18, and your content must meet Google’s policy guidelines. To get started, eligible creators can claim and customize their profile — adding an avatar, bio, website, and social links — at profile.google.com/claim.

One thing to keep in mind

Google is clear that creating a Search profile does not directly affect your content’s ranking. Its real value is in brand control and distribution: a cleaner identity in Search, and a better shot at reaching followers through Discover.

Search profiles are launching first in the United States, with Google signaling plans to expand to more creators and publishers worldwide and add new capabilities over time. For anyone building an audience online, it’s a low-effort, high-visibility way to take ownership of how you show up on the world’s biggest search engine.
